Decent Indian Rock bands?
First things first, if you haven't heard of 'thermal and a quarter', please visit their website . They are this south indian rock band from bangalore. Trippy name, trippy songs. And you can download their recent(3rd) album at their website. They were featured on this NPR program sometime back. So after being suitably excited after listening to their songs, I decided to check out the "rock scene" in India. Stumbled on this website called RSJ which I later discovered stands for Rock Street Journal. Anyway, so I was impressed at first with the number of bands, concerts and reviews etc. And then slowly, actually no, quite rapidly you realise most of it is the same pseud-giri that existed a few years ago. I still remember one of the Saarang rock shows I attended - good god. Anyway, atleast TAAQ is neat.

Thermal and a quarter are from Calicut actually.You should also check out this band called no idea, they're semi-decent .

No idea :) will check if they are avlbl online any where and let you know.. or may be will upload them somewhere myself and send you the link. they are perfoming in norway at a huge gig currently ,only band from india . Just FYI . If you like classic rock without too much external "padam" check out Phish. they are very old and you may have to search a bit to find some songs but you should try and get this song called "TALK " . its brilliant. also try Modest Mouse...relatively newer but still worth a litsen , recommended numbers : dramamine and float on.

Sweet , heartening to know that there are Indians in the world who still litsen to music like that.Magna Carta,Sly and the family stone,Jefferson Airplane,CSNY,wISHBONE ASh ,Bread,Silverchair,supergrass,bush ,beck ,floyd, the who,Deep Purple ,Lynnardskynnard ,uriah heep ,etc. Are these ppl/bands on your radar too ?
some of them are on my list, some I already have and others not on my list. would be nicer to know you by your name/alias rather than anonymous :)
